THE ONE MEMORY OF FLORA BANKS by Emily Barr

Seventeen-year old Flora has no short-term memory, and hasn’t since she had surgery for a brain tumor as a child. She constantly writes notes to herself to keep track of the life she can’t remember. But one day at a party, Flora kisses her best friend’s boyfriend, Drake - and that one memory sticks. Suddenly certain that Drake is the key to solving her memory problems, sheltered Flora follows him to Norway, and gradually discovers that the truths she’s written down about her memory, her family, and her life are not what they appear. Barr brilliantly handles the challenges of writing a narrator with no memory, and Flora is a winning combination of naiveté and grit. I absolutely adore this YA thriller that’s just as gripping for adult readers as it is for teens. - Amy, Children's Book Shop
